Zhang Xueliang, chair professor, chief expert of innovation team and doctoral supervisor of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, serves as the vice president of the school of urban and regional sciences and the vice director of the Institute of Finance and Economics of the university, with the research direction of regional economy and urban economy. He is one of the 50 members of China’s Regional Economy Forum, vice president of the National Economic Geography Research Association, deputy director of the Discipline Construction Special Committee of the Chinese Urban Economic Society, deputy secretary general of the Chinese Association for Regional Sciences and director of the Department of Young Scholars. He also serves as an expert of the Expert Advisory Committee of the Yangtze River Delta Urban Economic Coordination Association, and has been selected into the national “Ten Thousand Talents Plan” and the “New Century Excellent Talents” of the Ministry of Education, Dawn Scholar of Shanghai, the initiator of the WeChat official account named Chinese City and Regional Laboratory (CCRL). He has undertaken over more than 20 major projects, including Research on the Path of Urban Boundary Adjustment, the National Social Science Foundation’s major project, and Urban Comprehensive Bearing Capacity Improvement in the Context of New Urbanization and Relief of the City’s function in Shanghai, the decision-making and consultation project from Shanghai municipal government. He has written more than 10 monographs, including The Rise and Coordinated Development of China’s Urban Agglomerations, The Development and Reform of Shanghai at the Threshold of Transformation, and The Urbanization of China in the Era of Great Transformation. He has published more than 50 academic papers, many of which have been collected in the full text by Xinhua Digest.
